Joy of the Jam and the Guitar Orchestra
Please note that the cost you pay when you book is 50% of the full price. You’ll pay the second half after week 5
What it is A program dedicated entirely to jamming. This is achieved through building up a good group of mates, selecting songs that sound great in a live setting and then working on the skills required to make those songs sound the best they can
How the sessions run We’re often joined by percussionists, pianists, a bass player and other instrumentalists. There’s a lot of workshopping, a lot of people working on ‘their bit’ whether that be the solo in a song, or a fingerpicking section; meaning we get a beautiful, textured sound.
What you’ll learn Mainly, how to jam. This will see you developing all aspects of guitar playing, lead work, rhythm, complimentary stylistic playing choices. The whole lot.
What you’ll already know You’ll be good with barre chords and familiar with some scales. You’ll be able to read tab and navigate a song fairly quickly. This is usually attended by our intermediate/advanced players.
Practice Requirements About 30 minutes five times a week. Practice is essential as this course is somewhat of a team sport
Is this course right for me? Get in touch if you want to discuss which level to do. We’re more than happy to jump on a call or talk via email
The Social Bit You’ll be learning with about 8-10 other musicians. The classes are fun and all about connecting with your class mates. Typically, a group of people that jam together stay together. You might find yourself hanging out in between classes, meeting earlier or staying later at our bar. One of our classes once went for drinks afterwards and all booked an African Safari together. This is how it tends to go at The Guitar Social
