Sailing on a gulet in Turkey 2025

Date: 28 Jun 2025 Date: 5 Jul 2025

Price: £1895

Dates: 28th of June to 5th of July and 5th of July to 12th of July

Picture yourself snoozing on the deck of a gorgeous wooden Gulet. The chefs are downstairs cooking your dinner. The air is salty and aromatic. You’re feeling the late afternoons heat. You put down your guitar. Stand up, walk to the bow, and take a dive. For a second you’re lost to a sub aquatic world, rising up you emerge, take a look around you, the mountains and the dotted sun light across the ocean. You lean back and float for a while.

Later, we’ll play music underneath the moonlight. Tomorrow, will be much like today, but in a different bay, having had different conversations, and played different songs.

This scene is why our Turkey trip has sold out year after year. It’s idyllic. A picturesque heaven, where the only thing that’s missing is you.

Guitar on board

It goes without saying that there’s a lot of Guitar playing on a Guitar Social retreat but this is perhaps the most guitar rich of all the retreats we do.

Guitar workshops are tailored to meet the needs of every player on board and are staggered throughout the day, with one usually taking place after breakfast, a couple more after lunch and one ahead of the evenings performance.

During the day you’ll find yourself busy in collaboration with your new best (ship) mates.

The evenings performance consist of live music in a setting so beautiful it’s hard to imagine that anyone else on earth will be playing guitar in more pitch perfect conditions than you at that particular time. This part of the holiday is best viewed as an open mic where we welcome solo performances and collaborations that were formed during the day. You’ll see your fretboard by the moon, your stage lit by candles, the ocean your backing singer, the sweet smell of summer heavy in the air.

What you’ll be eating and drinking:

Meals, which are cooked by a professional chef and are a daily delight.

If you think of garlic sauce coved kebab meats when you think of Turkish cuisine, this retreat will change that forever.

Probably the most famous and best breakfast in the world is the Turkish breakfast, consisting of black and green olives, cucumbers, cured meats, dips and sauces, eggs, cheeses, tomatoes, bread, fruit preserves and jams, honey, pastries, and sweet butter.

Take a break from swimming with a light lunch of Mezze consisting of chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables, hummus and dolma before an afternoon tea of coffee and cake.

As the sun sets over the bay we’ll gather around the table for a glass of Wine or Efes beer before enjoying the views over a plate of freshly caught fish and grilled aubergine followed by citrus fruits.

All diets are catered for and the Mediterranean diet is largely Vegetarian.

Time off of the boat

We leave for the shore often, but a large part of this Guitar retreat is about being at water. However, opportunities to go to the Mud Baths, or climb a Byzantine Castle or explore a Roman Coliseum are plentiful.

From the Guitar Social Community

The Guitar Social is unique, vibrant, edgy, always fun and uplifting. Where else could I get top quality guitar teaching alongside a jam in the park, fun Zoom guitar based games or an inspiring and sociable camping trip.
Helen, Devon
The class is run by a group who really understand the principles of learning and the reasons for doing it! Also we are given sensible and realistic targets and outcomes coupled with very helpful practice schedules.
Lindsay, London
The lessons are great fun, the resources are excellent and I’m learning more than ever before. On top of that, there are loads of opportunities to get together and play with other students. Best guitar lessons I’ve ever had.
Stevie, London
Thanks to The Guitar Social , I am living my dream after years of longing to play the guitar but feeling too scared to go for it. I am loving it. The classes are so enjoyable.
